The process of screen printing on shirts, hoodies, or other substrates has never changed. Or if there’s any change, it’s making the old tedious ways a little easier to do but the principles are the same.
Every color on the artwork gets its own stencil, or screen, or silkscreen. If you have 6 colors on the artwork, screen printing your shirt order will need 6 stencils.
Every color is laid one after the other and there may be a short pause in between to get the first color dried to the touch before the next color goes in. At Poco Shirt Printing, we mainly use the screen printing process for custom shirt printing orders. It’s our first choice for most of our orders because the print is more durable compared to other printing processes. The screen-printed artwork will last as long as the threads on the garment. We have done a lot of shirts where the shirt is almost tearing apart because of so many washes but screen-printed artwork is still intact.
Our machine can accommodate up to 6 colors. All the colors are manually laid. Yes, by hand on a squeegee just like the olden days. This is the sure way of getting a good and high-quality screen print all the time.
